This campground has not been taken care of in some time, sadly because it’s in a very nice spot on the river. what in July… After walking the campground we found it in very poor condition, power boxes broken and just hanging from many sights. Then to a turn into the “campground” you have to go down a steep dirt driveway, we parked and walked around at about 12:30 on a Friday in July office closed and NO one came out to greet us, but I was not surprise because I called on the way and recording said office was only open till 10:00 a.m. You take a drive throw an area with some nice homes, then you come to a very narrow road that is really not suited for large RV’s. Overall, I would not recommend this campground.Įlk Creek Where do I start…first let me say we did not stay here, after driving at least 7 miles off the highway to this hole in the wall campground I felt the need to let other people know not to waste their time. The creek is definitely the highlight of this place. Cool water, and the water itself was quite clean. As a creek of course, it's not deep at all, maybe to your knees. The creek itself is quite pretty, you're able to splash around in it a bit. $35 a night for a tent spot is outrageous to me, especially when you consider the rest of the campground wasn't very nice. Trash on the floor, holes in the wall, toilets not secure to the floor. I understand the outdoors not being pristine, but just the basics were not great. Lucky for us, nobody wanted that spot by us anyway it was more like a one car parking spot, at least I wasn't sure where you would put a tent. We unintentionally used the firepit and table of the site next to us (because our fire pit didn't have a grill on it, and there were two tables at the other site). We did tent camping, and all of the sites were extremely close together. We called the day before and were able to make a reservation for a Saturday night.that probably should have been our first clue. This weekend getaway, ended up costing me more money, bc we had to drive further, missed our reservations, and lost time. I would not recommend this campground at all. The pictures on the webpage do not reflect the actual campground. The grounds had not been maintained, and just appeared dirty. The initial drive thru of the campground left a lot to be desired. We ended up missing our reservations for that night, as this took up too much time. We had no choice but to take that campground. We finally found a campground, but it was 1 hour out of the way (2 hrs round trip to our destination). We sat on the side of rd for almost 2 hrs trying to find another campground, but everything was booked. The office was closed during business hours, and I had to leave a message. We arrive and find that the site was no where near big enough, and the slides could not come out, bc not enough room. Next morning, I called and verified again with Matt to make sure our RV would fit, bc everything in Glenwood Springs, and surrounding areas was booked, and we were driving 4 hours. I told Matt I would talk to my husband, and call him in the morning. I was told there was 1 site left that would fit our needs. I told him the length of our RV, and stated we had 3 slide outs. I spoke to Matt several times before we decided on this campground.
